Conducting Nikah
The National Mosque conducts Nikkah for the Ummah virtually on daily basis. The intending couples often forward their request to the Mosque Management and subsequently, the wedding would be conducted in the Mosque as requested. The intending couples often forward their request to the Mosque Management and subsequently, the wedding would be conducted in the Mosque as requested. The key requirements for conducting a wedding in National Mosque are as follows:
Compulsory
- Wedding Notification (Invitation Card or Written Letter) showing the date and time of the Nikah
- Punctuality (i.e the two families must be in the Mosque on time)
- Mahr/Sadaq (Dowry)
- Presence of Waliy of Bride (i.e Bride’s Parent or Guardian or Representative from the Family)
- Presence of Wakeel of Groom (i.e Groom’s Parent or Guardian or Representative from the Family or Groom himself plus his friend(s))
Highly Desirable
- Medical Laboratory Test Results containing Blood Group, Genotype, HIV Status, Hepatitis Status etc.
- Payment of N5,000 for the Marriage Certificate plus 1 passport photograph each for the bride and groom as well as the name of 1 witness each for the bride and Group (i.e Bride and Groom’s parent or Guardian or Representative from the Family)
Voluntary
- Provision of Kolanut, bitter cola, dates and candies to be distributed to guests at the Nikah.
- Voluntary Sadaqah to the officiating Imams (if there are means)
